NAS JRB New Orleans Musters Opportunities with Annual Career Fair

Whether planning for the present or the future, the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NAS JRB) New Orleans Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) continued to open doors for their clients Sept. 23 at their annual career fair.

The event brought 35 prospective employers from the local area to the base to meet and network with more than 60 service members, veterans and civilians seeking future employment opportunities. Organizations in attendance included many local, state and federal entities from law enforcement, engineering, health and veteran affairs groups.

“This is an annual event that we host primarily for our military service members, transitioning service members and all of the military spouses and dependents who are in this community,” said FFSC Director Lasha George.

The event was hosted as part of the Work and Family Life program, one of the three major functional programs under FFSC meant to serve the needs of the NAS JRB New Orleans community.

“Any phase of life in the military that you’re at, we are here to help you,” said George. “We are right here on the base in New Orleans, so come see us at any time.”

NAS JRB New Orleans is home to 33 active-duty and Reserve tenant commands from the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Army and Coast Guard. As a premier military training destination with direct access to Gulf of America airspace, the air station operates two active runways to support joint-force combat readiness and homeland defense missions.
